¶ [Q] What browsers can I use to work in Self-Service?
¶ [A] Supported Browsers: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox and Opera.
Unsupported browsers: Internet Explorer, and Safari.
¶ [Q] How can I make sure students see their grades?
¶ [A] Assignments will not show up for students for a number of reasons. Below are some common things to check:
If you've chosen to manually publish your assignments, under the Assignment Setup and Grading make sure you have checked the box to publish the assignment.
If you've determined that the assignment is published, and the assignment is still not visible to students, you should verify that the category the assignment is in has been published in Category Setup. This can be commonly overlooked due to not needing to change Category Setup after initially setting them up.
You can also verify if the category is published in Assignment Setup and Grading by either checking the toggle switch at the top of the category, or if the category has been grayed out.
Lastly, and the most uncommon of these solutions, would be if you haven't selected an overall grading method. To verify this, go to Basic Setup and check under the Overall Grading Method section if one has been selected.
Note: You would have a large red banner appear if this option wasn't selected.
¶ [Q] How can I make my attendance dates appear on the Attendance Calendar?
¶ [A] By selecting a meeting type, you should have dates loaded on to the calendar.
They will appear as gray, green, or red. If you are not seeing dates, you'll want to contact your Dean, or Department Head, to have the schedule for that section created in Colleague.
¶ [Q] How do I get my course section to show up in the list of section cards?
¶ [A] Your course section could be hidden for a number of reasons. Below are some common problems:
You selected a specific term from the term selection area and the course you're lookin for is not associated with the selected term. To change terms, near the top right of gradebook you will see a button that says "Show Term Selection". Press the button and a dropdown list should appear. From this list, select the desired term.
If you've just come in fresh to gradebook, we generally show your Current Teaching Schedule which includes sections that are within +/- (Plus or minus) 15 days from the course start, or end, date.
Similar to the first problem, you may have selected a specific course section which is in a different term and then reloaded into gradebook. This would change your current term that you are viewing and would require you to do the steps giving in option #1 above.
Another possible solution is to completely leave Self-Service, or return to the Main-Menu of Self-Service Then re-enter Gradebook fresh and see if your course section is available.
¶ [Q] How do I show a hidden category, or assignment?
¶ [A] To show a category/assignment follow the steps below:
Access Category Setup, or Assignment Setup module.
Press the circular refresh button at the bottom right of the screen.
Uncheck checkbox next to category you wish to show again. And hit Save Changes button.
If you've successfully followed each step, you should see the category/assignment appear back in the list.
¶ [Q] Why are students displaying out of order in attendance?
¶ [A] Students will be given the option to go by a preferred name.
Due to this, student's names may appear out of order in your list due to the lack of a required format for the student's preferred name in Colleague.
